Stacy Douglas is an artist/researcher interested in broad questions of law & democracy, the role of the state, the relationship between government and governed, and processes of decolonisation. Her conceptual art spans a diverse array of media, including performance art, collage, video, and playwriting. Her current work on the aesthetics of law as it appears in and outside of the courtroom, was most recently part of the 13th Berlin Biennale (2025).

Stacy is also an Associate Professor of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada (unceded Algonquin Territory) where she teaches and publishes in the areas of legal theory, constitutional law, and political economy. Her book, Curating Community: Museums, Constitutionalism, and the Taming of the Political (University of Michigan Press, 2017), appeals to legal thinkers, cultural theorists, and artists alike.
